Wheatland Press - Amazon and POD
It's time to make the books!

Several people have posted links to the story about Amazon requiring POD publishers to use Book Surge and a few people have asked what, if anything, this means for Wheatland Press.

I have checked with my Sales Rep at Lightning Source and have been assured that nothing will change for me.

When you place an order via Amazon for a Wheatland Press book, the order is filled via Ingrams and Lightning Source. This will continue to be the case.

Likewise. We're not particularly bothered by this, and I think that it will blow off soon enough.

I'm glad to hear that from you and from Deborah.

My Lightning rep called and left a message that was a little more cryptic. I posted it on my LJ, but here it is here in comments:

"We are all concerned about the actions Amazon has taken toward our publishers. We are baffled by the situation and are trying really hard to understand why Amazon is using these tactics. We have contacted Amazon, but as of today, have not received a response. Our upper management team, including John Ingram, will be issuing a statement in the next couple of days, so you'll receive an email about it. We want to reassure you that all is well at Lightning Source, and business as usual. If you need to talk or have other concerns regarding the situation, please don't hesitate to call."
